SAMHSA analysis of Trump executive order on opioids

First published: 09 January 2021

Abstract

An important interpretation of President Trump's Oct. 5, 2020, executive order on opioids came from Elinore McCance-Katz, M.D., Ph.D., outgoing administrator of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), on Dec. 24. The 25-page report includes recommendations — not binding — for things like expansion of buprenorphine treatment and central registries.
