WAYFless URL

The WAYFless URL syntax is changing to support HTTPS. The new formula and examples are illustrated below:

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/action/ssostart?idp={entityID}&redirectUri={target}

Where:

entityID = the Identity Provider's encoded Entity ID

example : https://idp.example.org/shibboleth

encoded example: https%3A%2F%2Fidp.example.org%2Fshibboleth

target = the encoded relative URI of a Wiley Online Library page

example : journal/13652656

encoded example: %2Fjournal%2F13652656

Example WAYFless URL: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/action/ssostart?idp=https%3A%2F%2Fidp.example.org%2Fshibboleth&redirectUri=%2Fjournal%2F13652656

Proxy server

Atypon does not officially support EZproxy or similar services like WAM proxy. The method of rewriting URLs that these services use can conflict with or bypass the platform’s access control system.

Even though Atypon does not support these services, libraries can set up publisher sites as databases for EZproxy access on their end, if required. The following instructions provide guidance on setting up EZproxy. Please visit the Wiley Online Library database stanza page on the OCLC website for a full listing of the stanza.

The latest Wiley-maintained EZproxy stanza, may be downloaded here.

In addition, you must explicitly configure your proxy server to handle HTTPS so that the proxy connection is not lost when the user logs in. If HTTPS handling is not already set up, you need to configure it for SSL.

Trusted Proxy Server Setup

TPS is available to our Account Managed and Society Services Customers; to discuss TPS set-up and resolve issues, please contact your Account Manager or Society Services Specialist directly.

Journals

The Journal Activities Reports have been replaced by COUNTER Journal Report 3.

COUNTER 5 has rendered the Journal Frontfile report obsolete.  Please review the Usage Reporting guides for details.

Online Books

The Book Activities Report and Book Report 5 will be discontinued.

Reference Works and Databases

Usage of Reference works and Databases are counted in the COUNTER book reports.

These databases are no longer hosted on the Wiley Online Library, and no usage reports are available in COUNTER4 format (post-2018):

  • Evidence-Based Medicine Guidelines
  • NIST/EPA/NIH Mass Spectral Library
  • SpecInfo on the Internet - MS
  • Wiley Registry of Mass Spectral Data
  • SpecInfo on the Internet - NMR
  • SpecInfo on the Internet - NMR, IR, MS
  • SpecInfo on the Internet - IR

The Cochrane Library

This was previously captured in the proprietary "Cochrane report."  Starting in 2019, usage data is available in the database reports in COUNTER5 format.

Current Protocols

Current Protocols have been reclassified as journals. Their usage appear in journal usage reports. However, they will not be included in any journal collections from a purchasing/licensing perspective. Customers who wish to do cost-per-access calculations are advised to exclude the usage of these titles when evaluating their journals license.

Article Select Tokens

Article Select Tokens reports are available for each license which a customer has purchased. This increase transparency on within which spending period tokens are used.

SUSHI Data

Wiley supports the collection of SUSHI data. Wiley’s Requestor and Customer IDs are displayed on the Account Administrator page, in the Usage Reporting tab at the bottom of the page. The SUSHI retrieval URL will also be displayed on this page and is listed as: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/reports/

You can generate SUSHI reports through an API call with the following components:

  • COUNTER5 SUSHI Server URL: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/reports/
  • Report_Type: Select from the list above (in lower case)
  • Requestor ID: Administrator email address*
  • Customer ID: Account number (ex. EAL00000123)
  • Begin_date: YYYY-DD-MM format
  • End_date: YYYY-DD-MM format
(Other parameters if using one of the master reports)

* You only need to provide email address if you are out of the approved IP range for your institution. If you are a remote employee or a consortia manager, we recommend working with institutional administrators to be added as an admin on their account. For instructions on how to add administrators, please review the Wiley Online Library Institutional Administrative Guide Guide.

The standard query is constructed like this:

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/reports/report_type(in lower case)?requestor_id=&customer_id=&begin_date=&end_date=(&other parameters)

In the example below, a customer has requested a journal access denied report (TR_J2) for 2019:

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/reports/tr_j2?requestor_id=sushireports@wiley.com&customer_id=EAL0001234&begin_date=2019-01-01&end_date=2019-12-01

If the request is sent from within your institution’s IP range, you can remove requestor_id=sushireports@wiley.com&
from the API call.

For details on how to construct specific queries, and a complete list of available parameters, please consult the documentation at https://app.swaggerhub.com/apis/COUNTER/counter-sushi_5_0_api/1.0.0
